Program Note:

There is little of the trifle or bauble here. These bagatelles are more akin to Beethoven’s Opus 126 set of six for piano. The combined effect of the movements is to tell a sort of story leading from light-heartedness to sorrow and finally, some sort of catharsis. They comprise: “March, Presentiments, Parade, Waltz, Threnody and Wake.”
