Program Note:

The Bible and other sources tell of visions, dreams or visitations and some of these are represented in the six movements of this symphony. The intention was to try to express in musical terms the possible psychological effect on, feelings and experiences of the recipients before, during and/or after the vision, dream or visitation in question but it is perfectly possible to listen to the piece purely as abstract music. The voice or image of God, of angels or of Christ is expressed via a little pair of similar motifs appearing at the very beginning and several times thereafter and in different guises – hence the classification of this work as symphonic.

1. “Moses questions God’s commission.” 2. “God’s renewal of Elijah.” 3. “Isaiah’s call.” 4. “The handmaid of the Lord.” 5. “Saul.” 6. “And all manner of thing shall be well.
